Milei Announces Resignation of Argentina's Justice Minister

Buenos Aires, March 4 (NA) – President Javier Milei used his X account this morning to announce the departure of Mariano Cúneo Libarona from the National Justice Ministry, as well as to announce the arrival of the new minister, Juan Bautista Mahiques. With an emotional message, the head of state expressed: “Thank you very much, Mariano, for these more than two years of tireless work” and posted a photo where he can be seen accompanied by the now former minister, along with the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei. The post also announced the replacement of Cúneo Libarona: “The new Minister of Justice is Dr. Juan Bautista Mahiques, who will continue to work to make Argentina great again.” Milei met with Cúneo Libarona this morning to resolve the saga over the leadership of the ministry after several attempts by the media-savvy lawyer to resign, which culminated in Mahiques' appointment. On his X account, Mahiques thanked Milei “for the trust to assume the position” and added: “His leadership has been clear in marking the path: without justice, there is no possible future.” The newly appointed minister will be supported by Santiago Viola, a lawyer closely linked to Karina Milei's circle, as well as the Menem brothers, Eduardo and Martín.
